Since the 2015 version, 3DReshaper includes a new feature in order to create very light building models directly from the point cloud. Extract all planar parts from the point cloud to create a simplified mesh. Apply constraints to have vertical or horizontal planes, extract edges, etc. Then you can export the result as a DXF file (or another format), texture the mesh to add details, etc.

3D comparaison between a scan and a model of a dam. All the points from the scan are projected on the mesh in order to determine 3D deviation and to create a color mapping. Customizable reports can be exported in order to deliver a complete analysis.

In the surveying plug-in, the command "Extract Breaking Lines" allows you to find all the breaking lines from a mesh. Thanks to this function, you will have for example all the crest and ravine lines on your Digital Terrain Model. You just have to define the global aspect of the mesh (smoothed or noisy) to compute the lines. The extraction is then completely automatic. All the lines can be improved directly inside the command in order to save time.

This method allows you to control a pavement according to the "Rolling Straightedge" method. The goal is to check the smoothness of the road.
