3DR Meteor® is a tool to process 3D point clouds wherever they come from: 3D scanners, White Light systems, CMMs, Computer Tomography, or any other digitization device... Whatever your point cloud processing challenges are 3DR Meteor has the tools you need.

Thanks to a wide range of tools, 3DR Meteor® is a complete solution to inspect and control your 3D data.

Compare your scans with a theoretical model or analyze deformation with periodic measures thanks to the 3D inspection. Easily compute 3D or 2D comparison (along a direction) between objects (clouds, meshes, CAD, polylines). Then adjust the colored map or select labels to get inspection details on particular points and highlight what you want to show.

Features extraction

Extract geometrical shapes (planes, cylinders, contours, etc.) directly from a point cloud or a mesh. Extract also planar contours and holes from a plane.

Measure everything

Quickly get various measurements such as distances or angles from any objects in a few clicks. Compute volumes or surfaces from meshes in one click.

Easy Reporting

3DR Meteor® meshing process is one of the most powerful on the market as it has been designed completely in 3D. Process large point clouds quickly and easily to obtain light-weight, accurate and aesthetic models.

We offer different meshing strategies to give the best result depending on the quality of the original point cloud and your expectations.

Two steps are better than one

In case of noisy point clouds, the 3DR Meteor approach is to work in two steps to get a perfect result:

  • In a first step, create a very rough mesh in order to have quickly the global shape
  • In a second step, refine this rough mesh with the point cloud by adding triangles where we have the details
Specific triangle reorganization

Meshing along curvatures is a 3DR Meteor feature that enables to organize triangles according to local curvature. The triangle reorganization follows the "flow" of the shape so that sharp angles and small radii are better respected. This powerful technique significantly improves the quality of the 3D meshed models:

  • Greater accuracy of the shape, especially in sharp angles and small radius areas
  • Better aesthestics and smoothing of the shapes
  • Lower number of triangles needed to reach final tolerance of the model

3DR Meteor® provides you a various range of tools to align every kind of data (clouds, polylines, meshes, ...) from particular points or global shapes.

Thanks to these tools, you can face many situations as for example:

  • Align your scans on a reference model to do 3D inspection, analysis and reporting.
  • Build a coherent coordinate system to have main axis according to given geometrical features.
  • Use local coordinate systems to have different coherent coordinate systems for complex cases.
  • Align your scan passes after an acquisition so that the hardware intrinsic movement error is minimized.
A few commands to answer a lot of needs.

The command "N Points Registration" allows you to click couple of points to find the best solution so that each point clicked on the first object matches the corresponding point on the second object. This process can be improved thanks to a best fit on the complete object and some constraints that can defined.

The command "Best Fit" analyses overlapping areas to find the best position of each individual object according to the others in order to minimize registration errors, or to automatically align your scans on a reference model.

The interface with laser scanners and/or portable measuring arms offers a very competitive tool to process usual metrology tasks.

3DR Meteor® can handle Hexagon Hardware managed by RDS and any scanner plugged on it to process:

  • With acquired data, generate automatically meshes using dedicated workflows

3DR Meteor offers all necessary tools to handle, and easily reconstruct CAD objects. You can compute real NURBS surfaces so you can export your model to IGES or STEP files.

Auto Surfacing: in few clicks, reconstruct your freeform surface:

  • Automatically create a line network on your freeform object
  • Add constraints lines (following curvature,....) to adapt the network creation
  • Use the easy-to-use network edition (add, remove, modify lines,...)
  • Using the mesh and the network, generate and fit automatically Nurbs surfaces.
  • Use the sewing function to create a shell or a solid.
  • Use the extraction tools to create geometrical objects (plane, sphere, cylinder, circle,...), export them or use them to make surface restrictions, tubes,...

Result can be used for a further inspection inside 3DReshaper or exported as IGES or STEP file.
