Mesh cutting by contours, constraint meshing with polylines

Constraint meshing enables you to include some curves in your meshes and/or to cut them.

The opposite picture shows how to cut a mesh by polylines (here in the automobile domain) and to get a highly precise result.

The main applications of constraint meshing or mesh cutting by contours are the followings:

  • Finite element modelling: obtain 3D mesh with contours or impose boundary values.
  • Mold industry: calculate and separate polylines or parting line, and take in account draft angles (which may be the result of undercut computation).
  • 3D animation: mesh separation is used to separate the shape into different pieces which are separately deformed.
  • To include or cut with breaking lines for landsurveying applications.

Thanks to this feature, missing or damaged contours can be rebuilt.

Constraint meshing or mesh cutting by contours in order to reach clean contours and precise meshes.
