1- Point Cloud Filtering / Selection (manual and automatic / golf course)

Sometimes, it is necessary in a point cloud to cut apart the points that are not relevant or must be separately processed in your application (e.g. monuments and trees on a DTM). In 3DReshaper, there are several ways of processing the point clouds (bad points removing or selecting, etc.).

In this exercise, we will see how to split or explode a point cloud in different parts manually or according to a distance parameter. The 3D meshing while keeping all points will also be presented.

2 - 3D Meshing (1) (mesh refinement using the points from the cloud / hydraulic dam)

In 3DReshaper several meshing commands are available depending on the model and the application.

In this exercise, we will see which meshing strategies can be applied (regular mesh + local improvement and mesh refinement using the points from the cloud).

3- Best-Fit & 3D Comparison (hydraulic dam)

Comparing two shapes or two contours to know the gap or distance between them is required when you want to inspect a imported theoretical geometry with the corresponding measured model or when you want to compare two objects measured at different times (a DTM for instance).

In this exercise, we will see how to how to align and place two objects in the same coordinate system in order to make a 3D comparison.

5- Reverse Engineering (shipbuilding)

Because of reverse-engineering needs, you need to generate from a digitization a CAD model (such as IGES or STEP), usable in Computer-Aided Design, Manufacturing or Engineering software.

In this exercise, we will see how to how to convert a meshed model into a CAD model.

6- Computing Volumes (tank, lake)

In 3DReshaper, you can calculate volumes in different situations: closed surfaces, at a certain level of liquid, embankment and excavation for two superimposed surfaces.

In this exercise, we will see how to compute volumes in different situations.

7- Meshing (2) (mesh refinement using interpolated points / facade)

In 3DReshaper several meshing commands are available.

In this exercise, we will see how to mesh a noisy cloud using two mesh refinements (existing + interpolated or new points) + smoothing + sharp edge reconstruction.

8- Sections (tunnel)

In 3DReshaper, you can make cross sections with different strategies (planar, radial, freehand and along curves).

In this exercise, we will see how to reconstruct the neutral axis of a tunnel to make section along this curve.
