Sharp Edges reconstruction...

3DReshaper

Dear User,

It may happen that you have to reconstruct the sharp edges on a mesh in order to replace rounded parts, fillets or chamfers for CAD-CAM, architecture, civil engineering and cultural heritage applications. The new Sharp Edges function is designed to locally modify the mesh to pass through a set of lines representing the sharp edges.

Several methods are offered to design the edges with polylines:

  • Feature Line extraction: beyond the existing features like the “fictive line”, the optional module was enriched with the ability to directly reconstruct one edge. If you have several edges arriving on a corner for example; you will have to use the Sharp edge command.

  • Geometric constructions: for example, if you have 2 flat walls you can extract planar intersection of two best planes.
  • If you have some portions of edges, you can use the different commands to modify the polylines (cut, joint and stretch polylines).

Once your edges are designed with the polylines, launch the "Sharp Edges" command. You just have to click a point to define the zone to be modified and the sharp edge(s) will be automatically reconstructed.
